The question today is can I learn from my mistakes?

 

Let's talk today about Financial Freedom and what its meaning really is. Financial Freedom is when your wealth works for you not you working for it. It doesn't mean that you stop working, "Wealth Creation" continues all the way until death. There is a misconception circulating around the term financial freedom, that misconception is that the achievement of it is the end of the race. In reality the race has just begun!

 

I have coached many clients who are on the verge of breakthroughs financially, who then turn around and sabotage their success. This comes in several ways; one of the ways is when success is beginning to occur the business owner will want to try something different. The reason for this veering off course mindset is boredom or thinking that financially they are immortal. Once they get off course it is not recognized until the revenues have dropped and it is too late. Then there's a mad scramble to go back to doing what was working in the first place. The second avenue of sabotage is not waiting long enough for the success to happen. So many times people are on the verge of a breakthrough and they quit. "Impatience" has done a great deal to sabotage the success of many business owners.

 

Let's talk about "impatience" this is when people think they are going to get rich quickly and do not have the focus to stay with the program long-term. Staying within the specific program long-term and making it work is one of the secrets to success. Andrew Carnegie, one of the wealthiest people in the world in the late eighteen hundred's and early nineteen hundred's, said it very clearly "The problem with the American businessman is lack of concentration". Not being able to stay focused is clearly one of the major obstacles to Financial Freedom and wealth creation. People want a quick fix and believe it when someone else tells them they will get it. They buy into false information, which leads them to failure.

 

Now all this is assuming that the business owner has in place all of the proper business plans, and systems to run a business. If this is not the case then disaster is eminent. But assuming that the business owner has professionally put together all the planning and systems necessary to start and run a business, then without proper focus all of the efforts will not work. So many people say they want to be financially free but are unwilling to pay the price.

 

The price is doing it right! So many time people will cut corners and think that they can start a home business or any business for that fact and ignore the necessary steps in building their business. It's like building a building without a foundation; it will not stand and will collapse. This is what happens when people start to build a business without proper guidance. The business is faulty right from the beginning therefore destined to failure.

 

Even the most skilled, highly educated people seek counsel and mentoring when going through the business building process. But yet the average person seems to think that they can short circuit the system and ignore the necessary steps in building a business, ending up with a viable business that will make them financially free. Why in the world anyone would think that they could do something that no one else on the planet has been able to do is beyond me. Running a business without a plan will not and has never worked.

 

If you want to set up a business and achieve Financial Freedom the right way then you should seek out a mentor that is able to monitor what you're doing and make sure that you build a viable business. Having a mentor guide you through the business maze and come out the other and with a viable business asset is the only smart thing to do. You are probably asking the question why don't people do this? People tend not to seek advice because their "ego" lets them believe they can do it all themselves. Have you ever known someone in a business that could always run the business better than the person running it at that time? Many times individuals will read a book about running a home business and rush out and set the business up, with literally no experience about running a business, spending hard earned money, and then wondering why they failed. Usually the book is written by people who are selling books and not running businesses.

 

Everyone can always do it better! And this is the cause of failure. What fuels this mindset is the MLM's and network marketing schemes that sell their products under the guise of running your own business, when in fact you're just a marketing arm of the MLM business itself. In addition to being a marketing arm you're spending your own money to build someone else's business. These people are good; they let you believe that you are running your own business, by selling their products and putting your hard earned money in them to get the business going. This is sheer genius! The MLM gets others to spend their time and money to market the MLM business and then in return everyone get a piece of the pie but the MLM business has not spent a dime of their own money to market the products. If it your own business does it have value? Can you sell it to someone else? The answer is no!

 

Finding the mentor is easy finding a good mentor is hard. You should interview the mentor and make sure that they know what they're talking about. Ask to see a preview of their systems and course information that you will be asked to learn and follow. Make sure that you personally were placed ahead of revenues. What this means is that the mentor is not just interested in getting your money, but interested in helping you succeed. Make sure that you have an open line of communication with your mentor. [Remember, your mentor is probably mentoring many other people so don't abuse the line of communication.]. In the past the term Virtual Office referred to simply secretarial services like answering the phone and typing. Maybe a little dictation and accounting would be thrown in to the mix.
